Dr. Jean Yang, MD

Ophthalmologist in Mineola, NY. One of the very few uveitis specialists in the tri-state area, who specializes in caring for people with ocular inflammatory diseases, such as uveitis (iritis), scleritis, episcleritis, ocular cicatricial pemphigoid, etc.

Ocular Inflammatory Diseases

Ocular inflammatory diseases are often vision threatening, and may potentially lead to irreversible vision loss if uncontrolled. For decades these diseases have been treated with corticosteroids. However long term use of corticosteroids may have serious side effects.

Dr. Yang practices the steroid sparing approach, and uses the newest immunosuppressive/immunomodulating treatment to control the disease activity. The steroid sparing approach can effectively control these inflammatory diseases, and save vision. The immunosuppressive/immunomodulating treatment can be well-tolerated by most patients, and is associated with less serious side effects than long term corticosteroid use.
